At least 15 people have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service following sporadic gunshots and rising tensions at Ho Zongo in the Volta Regional capital.
The arrests were made after reports of gunfire caused panic among residents, prompting an immediate security response on December 26, 2025. Police and military personnel were deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
Eyewitnesses said the incident led to large gatherings in parts of the community, with residents expressing fear over their safety. Spent cartridges were reportedly found at some locations, raising concerns about the presence of illegal firearms.
Police authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the disturbance and to identify individuals responsible for firing the shots. Security patrols have been intensified in the area as a precautionary measure.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to maintain peace and order in the municipality.
