President John Dramani Mahama has announced the commencement of a nationwide road rehabilitation programme covering 2,000 kilometres of roads, as part of efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and boost economic activity.
According to the President, the initiative forms a key component of government’s broader infrastructure and development agenda aimed at enhancing road safety, easing the movement of goods and people, and supporting local businesses across the country.
President Mahama noted that poor road conditions have long affected productivity and access to essential services, particularly in rural and peri-urban communities. He assured Ghanaians that the rehabilitation works will be carried out in phases to ensure quality and value for money.
The President further stated that the programme is expected to create jobs, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, and contribute to national development. He urged contractors to adhere strictly to timelines and standards, while appealing to the public for patience during construction.
Government says it remains committed to addressing infrastructure deficits and improving the quality of life for citizens through sustainable development projects.
